The United States Police Canine Association (USPCA), the nation’s oldest and largest police K-9 organization, will host a regional police dog certification event Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, April 7th, 8th and 9th, at the Young County Arena (120 Barclay Blvd).
The FREE event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. each day, and members of the public are encouraged to attend; this unique opportunity allows visitors to see firsthand the advanced training and teamwork between K-9 officers and their handlers.
Police K-9 teams participating in the event will demonstrate the exceptional training and skill that support law enforcement efforts across the nation. Many of the police dogs seen in airports, train stations, and patrol vehicles have been trained and certified through USPCA programs. Breeds represented include German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Labrador Retrievers, Bloodhounds, Border Collies, and more.
Since 1971, the USPCA has trained and certified police dogs in a wide range of disciplines, including patrol work, tracking, protection, narcotic detection, explosive detection, arson investigation, fish and game enforcement, and search and rescue.
